MWC 2009: Various brands overview

It now comes the time to pay due respect to the smaller makers (in terms of market mostly) that did bring some interesting devices to the MWC 2009. They will get their due coverage of course and our appreciation for having the skill and the courage to...

Review: Garmin Nuvifone G60

You'd think that after two years of gestation, Garmin would have birthed a smartphone-GPS combo that was rock-your-pants awesome. The only thing this phone is...

GPS functionality is not THAT bad. Rubberized grip prevents phone from slipping out of hand

No multitouch. No apps. No home-screen button. No video. Suck-tastic internet browser. Weak battery gave us less than a day of use. Price tag makes us think this phone is part of some elaborate Nigerian e-mail scam

Garmin Nuvifone G60 (AT&T) review: Garmin Nuvifone G60 (AT&T)

The Garmin Nuvifone G60 comes preloaded with North American maps and points of interest. The GPS-enabled smartphone is an accurate navigator and delivers decent call quality.

The G60's smartphone capabilities are limited. The accelerometer doesn't work all the time, and the user interface needs some work.

The Garmin Nuvifone G60 makes a fine navigator but fails as a smartphone. It's not worth the money.

Garmin nuvifone G60

Typing in addresses or searching for points of interest was a breeze with the on-screen QWERTY keyboard and animated UI graphics. You can also search for points of interest with your voice. Once underway, the nuvifone was a great navigator. GPS...

Stellar GPS navigation. Good call quality and reception

No video player, video recorder, third-party app support, MMS, or instant messaging. Poor camera. Tinny speaker hobbles voice prompts. Expensive

The Garmin nuvifone G60 offers superb GPS navigation and decent call quality, but it's a one-trick pony that falls short in nearly every other way.

Preview: The Garmin-Asus lovechild is finally here. Can it find its way among the smartphone leaders?

A victory for convergence. Cheap alternative to separate sat-nav and phone

Sat-nav focus might detract from other functions

Garmin Asus Nuvifone G60 [Review]

Does a good job of navigation but fails to impress as a smartphone

Intuitive and well-designed user interface, decent navigation functionality, good touch screen response, car kit, 4GB storage

Low battery life, no video recording, no video playback, can't install third party apps, sunlight legibility not up to the mark, laggy while browsing heavy websites, expensive

Garmin nuvifone G60 Preview

I recently got some time with this new device, and recorded a video of a Garmin representative showing off the high points

Garmin-Asus nuvifone G60

The Garmin-Asus nĂ¼vifone G60 is a touchscreen Linux powered phone support quad-band connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), 3.6 HSDPA and Wi-Fi. It has a 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus and geotagging.

Excellent GPS; good touch interface; easy to use

Too many system freezes; no video; no flash

Overall the G60 is a healthy (albeit shaky) start for Garmin in its attempt to break into the mobile phone market.
