HTC EVO 4G review

As a mobile platform, the EVO 4G's Android foundation is still an infant -- well, okay, perhaps it's a tweener -- but in its two-odd years in the public spotlight, the list of truly revolutionary devices to use it has been a significant one: the G1 for...

Huge, vibrant display ; Mobile hotspot works beautifully ; WiMAX compatibility

Nearly too big for one-handed use ; WiMAX can be spotty ; 720p video quality not great

HTC EVO 4G LTE (Sprint)

Sprint's fastest, most powerful and elegant smartphone is now waiting for the carrier's new LTE network.

Slim. Fast. Integrated kickstand. Top-notch camera. Ships with Android 4.0.

Without LTE, Internet access is slow. Video camera frame rates drop indoors.

Google Play offers up more than 400,000 Android apps, and all the ones I tried ran well on the EVO. The only thing you might miss are the few dozen high-end games exclusive to Nvidia's Tegra phones. The EVO integrates NFC and supports Google Wallet.

HTC Evo 4G Sprint review

Editors' note: The ratings for this product have been updated since the review's original publish date because of results from additional testing.

The HTC Evo 4G delivered respectable 4G speeds, and the mobile hot-spot feature lets you connect up to eight devices. The smartphone has a front-facing camera for video chats and also comes with an 8-megapixel camera with HD-video-recording...

Sprint's 4G network is limited at this time, making the mandatory $10 premium data add-on tough to swallow for anyone outside of the coverage area. The Evo lacks support for Bluetooth voice-activated dialing. Battery drains quickly with 4G.

The HTC Evo 4G is easily Sprint's best smartphone and one of today's top Android devices. It also shows the promise of 4G, which will grow as Sprint's WiMax network expands, but until there's broader 4G coverage, it's hard to agree with the mandatory...

Review: Sprint HTC EVO

The first 4G Android phone manages to be both a blazing fast internet machine and a frustrating battery-draining succubus.

Fantastic camera. Blazing fast internet. More connection options than Grand Central Station. Slick user interface easy for novices, yet allows power users to get their nerd on. Dead-simple tethering. Touchscreen keyboard offers ample space, even for...

4G coverage spottier than an oil-stained Louisiana beach. Odd dimness issues with display. Android cut/copy/paste so poor you’d do better rekeying. Battery life shorter than Verne Troyer

HTC EVO 4G

HTC has struck gold again with the HTC EVO 4G ($200 with a two-year contract from Sprint), which is easily the best Android smartphone available. The EVO 4G packs powerful specs and a lot of features in a slick, stylish design. The biggest drawback is...

Superb 8-megapixel camera ; Gorgeous, responsive display

4G coverage isn't everywhere

The speedy HTC EVO 4G packs in some powerful specs and a variety of multimedia features into a stylish, minimalist design, but not everybody will get to enjoy one of its best features--4G connectivity.

HTC EVO 4G (Sprint)

The phone doesn't have a physical keyboard, so you're reliant on HTC's touch keyboard. While it's visually attractive and more accurate than the standard Android keyboard, it's nowhere near as easy or accurate as the iPhone keyboard; I found myself...

First WiMAX phone. Excellent Web browser with some Flash. Terrific 4.3-inch screen. Two cameras. Wi-Fi hotspot mode

Not a great voice phone. 4G coverage is very limited. 4G-only battery life is unflattering

The first WiMAX phone in the U.S. is a terrific platform for streaming media and Web browsing, and it gets your laptop online with Sprint's 4G network. Just keep an eye out for an outlet when you're only using 4G.

The Sprint HTC EVO 4G Review

It's really not that big. It seems like it would be based on the specs and photos, but in reality the Sprint EVO 4G by HTC just isn't that big. And it's not levied as an insult, I just mean to say that the EVO is manageable in size.

HTC EVO 4G

Lots of people are excited about the HTC EVO 4G and rightfully so. This Android phone has all the specs to set a new standard as to what a cell phone can become. It has WiFi, 3G/4G connectivity, video chat, two cameras (8-megapixel on the back,...

HTC EVO 4G Review

High-end Android devices are coming fast and furious these days, but the HTC EVO 4G manages to be in a class all by itself. Save for 4G there aren't any features of the EVO we haven't seen on other phones before, it's just that we've never seen them...
