Samsung Galaxy S20 review

It's amazing how little the €900 Galaxy S20 sacrifices compared to its €1,000+ bigger sibling and even the S20 Ultra, which starts at €1,300.

Excellent build quality and bill of materials. IP68 rating.

The fingerprint sensor performance is behind the competition.

But when you consider that the Galaxy S20 delivers the same specs as the more expensive S20+ and that this price will inevitably go down in a few month's time and we think it may very well be the best seller in the Galaxy S20 trio.

It may be getting on a bit, but the Samsung Galaxy S20 is still a cracking phone

Incredible AMOLED screen with silky 120Hz refresh rate ; Supports all 5G standards (sub-6, mmWave, NSA) ; Powerful, with ultra-premium chipset ; Camera system still bursting with features ; Better value than the S20 Ultra

Well-sized for one-handed use. ; Gorgeous 120Hz screen. ; 8K video recording. ; Most affordable Galaxy S20 model.

Lacks high-band 5G. ; Shorter battery life than other S20 (and S10) models.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is the most manageable of the S20 lineup in terms of size and price, but it may get left behind with future 5G upgrades.

Pick of the litter

High refresh rate meets fantastic image quality ; Best hardware and build quality of any Android phone ; All-day battery life… usually

5G not worth it for many ; Camera image processing a bit strong ; RIP headphone socket

It has all the features you’d want in a flagship phone, plus a few more, without going overboard like the pricey S20 Ultra. The regular Galaxy S20 is the best Android flagship of 2020 so far

The Samsung Galaxy S20 5G is the most basic of Samsung's Galaxy S20 range, but it's still a true flagship.

Brilliant screen ; Loads of power ; Good cameras
