The Sony Ericsson K800i offers solid features, superior photo quality, and excellent performance in a sharp, eye-catching package.

The Sony Ericsson K800i's call volume was a tad low, and the navigation controls were squashed together. Also, menu navigation was somewhat sluggish.

With an amazing selection of features and great performance, the Sony Ericsson K7800i joins the company's K790a as a superior camera phone.

Sony Ericsson K800i

Sony Ericsson has thrown down the gauntlet with the 3.2-megapixel Cyber-shot K800i. We've crowned this the best camera phone so far in 2006, but the bevy of extra features and ease of use make the K800i a good choice for first-time 3G users.

3.2-megapixel camera with proper flash. Large, sharp 262K colour display. Integrated RSS reader and Web browser. Image stabilisation to assist shooting. Wide array of easy-to-use multimedia features. 64MB internal memory stores around 100 photos.

Menu navigation can be sluggish. Overexposed photos in bright conditions. Bulkier than previous model. Photo blogging with Blogger.com only. No bundled memory card.

The best camera phone of 2006 so far, the Sony Ericsson K800i outshines all others in term of features and user-friendly design. Aside from a few squabbles with the extra bulk, the K800i makes it easy for first-time 3G users and is an ideal companion...

No Memory Stick (M2) included in sales package

The K800i is definitely the cream of the crop if you are after a camera phone. It's still not good enough to replace a stand alone digital camera, but this handset has enough in other areas to ensure it is an attractive proposition.
