Grado RS-2 Reference Series review

Grado Labs' headphones are perennial audiophile favorites, with support running all the way to its budget line. We've reviewed some of those "entry level" models here at CNET--including the $69 SR60s , the $95 SR80s , and the $150 SR125s --so we were...

Real mahogany wood earpieces and a genuine leather headband add style to what may be the best-sounding headphones around.

These handcrafted headphones are expensive and a little less comfortable than the competition.

Grado's RS-2 Reference Series headphones are strong contenders for world's best sound.

Grado RS2 review

High-performance headphones with classic styling

Lively and engaging performance ; Strong detail ; Great build quality

Some coloration, but it's not much of an issue

A little treble boost seems to do no lasting harm and the rest of the frequency range is neutral and believable. Detail is very good and the overall impression is of lively, energetic and involving music-making

Grado RS 2 Headphones

The RS 2 is the number three model in Grado's headphone lineup, but among headphone aficionados it enjoys a reputation for capturing much of the essential goodness of the very expensive, top-tier Grado models (the RS 1 and GS 1000), yet at a more...

A Headphone Ferrari In Disguise

The RS2 is billed as the "baby brother" of the classic Grado RS1. At $495, it's a pricey set of cans but its saving grace is the fact that it's more than a "baby brother." It's almost a twin. If you just have to have an RS1, accept no substitutes. But...

RS1's for $200 less - cans with solid bass, warmth and amazing clarity

Too expensive for Grado newbies. At $69, the SR60s are a better introduction

Grado RS2 Headphone Reviews

While I have tried most of the Grado range, in some way or another I found many of the higher end models too fatiguing after hours of listening for one reason or another.

Grado RS2 Headphone Reviews

I have owned these headphones for a year now, and enjoy them occationally, though much more at first. I have found out since that the sound really isn;t for me, however, I am not going to bash them. These are GREAT headphones. pretty good value for the...

TOP NOTCH HEADPHONES

I have a set of the Grado SR-80s which are a little bright after extended listening, but offers a similar Grado sound to the RS-2 (i.e. very clear detailed sound all round, but not as deep and satisfying). RS-2 are more relaxed and neutral with a lush...

Amazing sound and detail. Superb soundstage. Really nice rich tone, and less harsh than the lower end Grados. These headphones are one down from the Grado top of the range RS-1, but for a lot less money. However, you are unlikely to hear anything...

A tad expensive if you get these new. I was lucky enough to find a nearly new set with Grado extension lead (lead is far too short without it) on eBay for half RRP price.

Grado RS2 Headphone Reviews

These are very fun headphones. Nice bass and highs, a smooth midrange. However, they lack the detail of other headphones in its price range. This makes them great for rock. The bass is tight, the presentation is forward -- these will get your toes...
