Canon EOS Rebel T8i review: Nothing to see here

With the Rebel T8i, the magic of the T7i has been lost. Even as it makes some enthusiast-friendly changes, it doesn't do anything to keep DSLRs relevant.

The Canon EOS Rebel T8i / EOS 850D doesn't quite do enough to justify a higher price tag than the DSLR it replaces.

Quick, reliable autofocus Decent vari-angle touchscreen Lovely form factor Excellent battery life Good image quality

Small viewfinder display Plasticky build 4K video limitations Modest upgrade from EOS 800D

If you still prefer DSLRs to mirrorless cameras, the dinky EOS Rebel T8i / 850D is a capable camera with excellent autofocus and a vari-angle touchscreen. It also produces lovely images. But there are few reasons to to pick this camera over mirrorless...
