Olympus E-P1

The game changing Olympus E-P1 Micro Four Thirds camera is compact, affordable, and offers great image quality to boot.

Sharp images from ISO 100 through ISO 800. Low noise from ISO 100-1600. Beautiful aesthetics and design. HD video capture (720p30). HDMI port. 3-inch LCD.

Noticeable shutter lag. Slow autofocus. Lens is noisy when focusing, which is recorded when capturing video. Few Micro-Four-Thirds lenses available. No optical viewfinder or built-in flash.

Boot up and recycle times are also affected by the slow focusing. Without autofocus, the E-P1 can boot and snap in an average of 2.44 seconds, but with AF it averaged 3.28 seconds. Without AF, the camera averaged 1.03 seconds of recycle time between...

Olympus E-P1 review

Editors' note: In light of the growing number of more feature-rich interchangeable-lens models on the market since the E-P1 was initially reviewed, we've revised the camera's features rating, bringing it to a 7 from an 8.

Striking design; excellent build quality; impressive photo quality; interchangeable lens support.

Sluggish autofocus; short battery life; low-resolution LCD; lacks on-camera flash and viewfinder.

The Olympus E-P1 is an otherwise excellent enthusiast compact camera hampered by some performance problems and the lack of a viewfinder and built-in flash.

Olympus E-P1

The design. Have you ever seen such a cool looking camera?. SDHC compatibility. HD video. Aperture priority and art filters in video mode. Excellent range of additional accessories.

The price of those additional accessories. Resistive control wheel. Loud autofocus on some lenses.

Though it's rather expensive, we can't help adoring the E-P1. The pictures it takes with the included lenses are mostly great, just don't expect compact-like features such as a viewfinder and flash to be included.

HD-Videofunktion ; ansprechendes, solides Design ; Wechseloptiken

Olympus E-P1 Compact System Cameras

I had a couple of reservation about the m4/3rd system when it first came out. Shutter lag and also the lack of a viewfinder. I own an E3 but was also looking for something smaller to do street photography with. I love my Leica M6 but sometimes getting...

Small size, low price, nice dynamic range, low noise, easy to use

Small button dial easy to knock off of settings, can not use a EVF, art filters write slow to card, lcd screen hard to see in bright light

Olympus E-P1 Compact System Cameras

It's not a point and shoot, it's not an SLR, it's not really a range finder either...What is it?Well to take Olympus' catch phrase, it's a PEN. It's a new breed of digital cameras aimed at people who want to versatility of a SLR, but want a smaller...

Small Size, Compact- Good Build Quality- Image Quality is excellent- In-Body image stablization

No View Finder, you have to by a seperate unit and then it's only good with the 17mm f/2.8 lens- No Built in Flash
