Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray disc player

The Panasonic DMP-BD60K might cost a bit more than the other top-tier Blu-ray disc players on the market, but in our opinion it's worth it.

Excellent image quality, sleek and attractive design, lots of useful inbuilt features

Unhelpful on-screen displays

On all counts, the Panasonic DMP-BD60 is a well-made Blu-ray player, and it ranks among the best Blu-ray players you can buy today. Highly recommended.

Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray player reviewed, are the new features worth it?

Panasonic DMP-BD60 review

Multiregion and 'net functions make us covet this BD baby

Performance ; Viera Cast functions ; Multiregion capabilities

No multichannel analogue

A solid Blu-ray player with lots of good features and some pretty darn fine pictures to boot

Panasonic DMP-BD60

The Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray player looks and works a lot like its predecessor, but comes with a few fun online upgrades.

1080p24 DVD upconversion. Google-based online multimedia features. Quick-start feature improves start-up time. Very energy efficient.

1080p24 DVD upconversion feature needs to be manually activated. Optional memory required for BD-Live support. Quick-start feature increases standby power consumption.

Panasonic DMP-BD60 review

A solid player, but not a significant enough improvement over last year's model and overtaken now by newer rivals

Simple to use and all the key specifications ; good attention to detail, natural colours, crisp edges ; plenty of sonic excitement

Rivals have stepped up performance, particularly in terms of sound

Top-notch new rivals doth not a bad BD player make, but this Panasonic is no longer our budget weapon of choice

Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu-Ray Review

Excellent image quality ; Sleek, attractive design

Unhelpful on-screen displays

The Panasonic DMP-BD60K costs a little more than other players, but its superb image quality and intelligent design justify its price.

Panasonic DMP-BD60K review

From our perspective, the Panasonic DMP-BD35 was a landmark for the Blu-ray format, as it was the first standalone player we could wholeheartedly recommend, earning the Editors' Choice award. The Panasonic DMP-BD60 is the successor to the DMP-BD35 and...

Excellent image quality with Blu-ray movies; Profile 2.0-compliant; onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Essential; access to YouTube and Picasa; Amazon On Demand streaming coming in May.

Competitors offer more next-generation features like built-in Wi-Fi, Netflix streaming, and onboard memory; operational speed slow compared with newest players.

The Panasonic DMP-BD60 offers excellent image quality and reliable Blu-ray playback, but it doesn't have as many features as the competition.

Panasonic BD-60 Blu-ray Player

Panasonic has a long tradition of producing well regarded, competitively priced disc players. Many of their DVD players were among the best at producing a 480p image, and at a very reasonable cost. Panasonic was at it again with Blu-ray, being one of...

Panasonic DMP-BD60 review

The DMP-BD60 is one of the thinnest Blu-ray players we've seen, and yet Panasonic still manages to fit in an SDHC memory card slot as well as the standard USB port under a small flap on the front panel.

Viera Cast and an SDHC slot make the DMP-BD60 stand out, but its slow performance and high price mean it misses out on an award.
