Apple beefs up its consumer desktop PC with a faster CPU and an energy-efficient display
LED-backlit display, SD card slot, powerful, comparatively inexpensive
No Blu-ray drive, Magic Mouse is troublesome
Apple's latest iMacs are noticeably refined compared to their predecessors, though they aren't significantly different. Both 21.5in models are quite powerful and their 1080p LED-backlit displays are certainly vibrant.

Design remains superb, good performance, Apple attention to detail, all-in-one casing saves space
Exorbitant price, no included Apple remote, keyboard has no number pad, rear casing gets hot, only RAM can be upgraded, no adapters included for DVI or VGA connections
The upgrades to the latest Apple iMac are largely underwhelming, but the computer retains its excellently crafted design. It's still an outstanding machine, but the smaller keyboard, lack of included remote and the fact that no display adapters are...

When Apple held one of its big keynotes last week, it was easy to think of it as "iPad day." Sure enough, the company announced some upgraded tablets, bu
Best-in-class 5K screen offers bright colors, wide viewing angles ; Fast performance ; Attractive design ; Robust audio
Expensive compared to other all-in-ones ; Can't be used as a secondary display
The iMac's 5K Retina display puts it in a class of its own, though with a starting price twice that of rival machines, it's not for everybody. We mainly recommend it for photo and video enthusiasts, especially people who couldn't otherwise justify the...

Still the best all-in-one PC money can buy?
pointed out, that remains the case. iPhoto is particularly useful thanks to the addition of a nifty new face recognition system and Facebook integration, but every element of the suite exudes the usual Apple ease-of-use and comfort. So, given most...

The latest release of Apple's all-in-one computer enjoys several key improvements
Impressively large screen ; Expanded RAM capacity ; Can be wall-mounted ; Can be used as external display
No Blu-ray option ; No matte screen option
A very welcome and extremely capable update for Apple's classic desktop, though there's still some room for improvement

Editors' note: This review has been corrected to indicate that the system has only a mini DisplayPort output. Mini DisplayPort input capability is restricted to the 27-inch iMacs.
Boasts Apple's always-appealing industrial design, a high-resolution display, and the best performance among all-in-ones in its price range.
Small screen for its price (despite its high resolution); not as home entertainment-friendly as other all-in-ones.
Despite its good looks and a few useful new features, Apple's new iMac is all about business. You can find a larger screen for less, not to mention all kinds of digital entertainment features, but no other all-in-one at this price can boast similar...

Impressive image quality from display and any angle ; New SD card slot ; Improved speaker system
Apple Remote not included ; Glare and reflections from screen may frustrate some users ; FireWire 400 peripherals require an adapter

Apple iMac (27-inch
Largest display among all-in-ones; fast dual-core CPU makes up for lack of quad-core (mostly); finally has an SD card slot; wireless mouse and keyboard; Mini DisplayPort input ripe with possibility.
Most Windows all-in-ones in the price range have Blu-ray; touch-sensitive mouse gestures not as responsive as we'd like; Apple's nickel-and-dime customer service policy.
Apple's new 27-inch iMac will charm plenty of you with its screen size alone. Fortunately, that won't lead you astray. Behind its expansive display, Apple has packed one of the fastest all-in-ones available, and added a few useful extras to sweeten the...
