What Happened?

 

I have about 6 of these units in production right now. They have always been stable, easy to set up and use. But the last 2 I have purchased have been DOA. This is not acceptable.

Easy to use and to set up

I have received 2 DOAs in a row... and with shipping costs for RMA I could have spent over $50 additional

Nice system

 

I had a frustrating experience at first thinking the mobo or psu was bad. After spending several hours troubleshooting and finally narrowing it down to the psu did i realize the problem... the power supply voltage switch was set to 220v instead of...

Very compact case but easy to get to all components ; supports E6500 Pentium cpu ; very quiet ; firewie

to add hard drive and other components there are a ton of screws that need to be removed. would have been nice if they would have been thumb screws or latches like some of the other cases ; NO PCI-Express slots

Perfect for Point of Sale systems

 

I am using these for Point of Sale stations and they work perfectly. Their small size is easily concealable. While the serial ports might be legacy, their addition is valuable as it allows me to connect receipt printers to them.

dont give bad reviews cause you cant figure it out.

 

********Pros: - Small form factor - Quiet - Fast for barebones machine used for file server Cons: No SATA drivers for anything but W2K/XP/Vista. All OS's I tried work fine with an IDE drive, but no luck even seeing a secondary SATA drive from WHS, SBS...

This is a good system and works with all OS's

The systems are built with 2 different riser cards. Newegg sells the one with riser card model MS-4134 with 2 PCI slots. There is also a riser card with 1 PCI and 1 PCI-e X16. It is model MS-4117. The PCI-e X16 slot is the upper slot away from the...

Nice compact system.

Should include both models riser cards to give options.

Incorrect specs

 

Would have been nice to know about the lack of PCI Express slot beforehand. I purchased a PCI Express x4 NIC to use in this for an Untangle network gateway. To be fair MSI's site has the correct information and I should have done more research on this...

Small, clean layout inside should make for good airflow.

Newegg description is WRONG there is NO PCI Express x16 slot. Only a PCI-X riser card with two PCI slots.

Worded very well

 

I plan to by a second case and build a second Portable DVR.

I been searching around for bookshielf sizes cased for minidvr operations..started with the ASUS case, but the card bearily fits..this one is perfect.

CPU heatsink is a little big. A 1U heatsink would be nice. (i ordered one)

Good Buy

 

Great product, if it dies in a year or two, I'd consider getting MSI again.

Very small, perfect for my living room. Supports a duocore, which makes running XP a dream. Low power compared to other barebone kits.

My ony issue is the raiser card. It is set up so that you can't use both slots if a video card requires two slots.
