The slick touchscreen and clean menus make the PRS-700 easy to befriend. Reading aficionados will appreciate the gesture-controlled page turns and the LED sidelights. Though...
User interface is a breeze. Handles PDFs like a pro. Sidelights are a blessing for considerate insomniacs
Screen looks better than it works: Major glare kills eyes, some text looks fuzzy, and touch controls are finicky

With the Amazon Kindle sold out, Sony's Reader is the best e-book reader you can buy right now.
Touch-sensitive screen. Streamlined interface. Attractive design.
Pricey. Doesn't provide wireless download of titles (unlike Amazon's Kindle). LED sidelights aren't very strong.

Sony Reader Digital Book PRS-700BC - eBook reader - Sony Reader Software - 6
The PRS-700 is sleeker than the Kindle; faster processor speeds up the device; new touch-screen interface offers better ergonomics and is easier to use; with the addition of an optional memory card (SD or Memory Stick Pro), it's capable of storing...
New touch screen is more glare-prone and doesn't have as much contrast as Amazon's Kindle or Sony's PRS-505; built-in lighting is from the screen periphery and is not true backlighting; eBook Library software isn't available for Mac owners; there's no...
The PRS-700 takes one step forward for Sony digital readers--and a couple leaps back.

The Kindle 2 e-book reader has become one of the best-known consumer tech products. Now, Sony's Reader PRS-700 is trying to get on top.
Whether you want to purchase an e-reader depends both on how much of a reader you are and how comfortable you are reading from a netbook, a smartphone or some other mobile device. There are sources for electronic literature that don't involve a...

Though it must scare the crap out of the publishing biz, we will all one day carry ebook readers. In the US, Sony and Amazon have led the way with impressive E-Ink systems that prove that digital displays can be as readable as ink on paper. For this...
that left a lot of readers caught in the middle. The Kindle had usability benefits—download direct to device; nice button array—that the Reader did not. Meanwhile, the Sony had a friendliness to third-party files that Amazon did not share. Clearly, in...

As an avid book reader, I've been a fan of the Sony Reader line of devices since the PRS-500 came out 2 years ago. With the PRS-505, released last year, things got even better-- the 505 was faster, had a whiter virtual page and even better contrast....
Responsive touch screen and excellent user interface. Navigating through books, notes and where you left off in a book is quick and easy. Nice design, more attractive than the Kindle. The touch screen means there's no need for a hardware keyboard...
Screen has less contrast and clarity than earlier Sony Readers and the Amazon Kindle.
Sony has worked a near miracle with their touch screen and touch-centric user interface. The Reader is simply a joy to use in terms of ergonomics, control and navigation. This is by far the most natural way to manage, navigate and read books we've seen...
