Best Freesat PVR, Awards 2010. If you're looking to take the plunge with Freesat, this is the way to do it – a great piece of kit
Fantastic picture and sound ; superb usability ; class-leading style and build ; iPlayer support
Some rivals offer larger hard-disks for this money
Best Freesat PVR, Awards 2010. Still the finest Freesat HD box going. It's not cheap, but for now, it's the best freesat solution you can buy

The launch of Humax's Foxsat-HDR was probably one of the most anticipated events of the year, with more HD screens appearing in living rooms across the country, people are desperate to get access to broadcast HD content. If you don't want to subscribe...
Easy to use, great interface, connectivity, no subscription, PVR functions work a treat
Lack of HD content, price
The FOXSAT-HDR delivers the quality content and experience that users of Humax PVRs have come to expect. Things just work with satisfying ease. But the thing you really have to suck up here is the price. At £299, you’ll have to multiply out how many...

Finally, a non-subscription box that lets you watch and record HD. But can the Foxsat HDR really take on Sky+?
If you’re looking to take the plunge with Freesat, this is the way to do it – a great piece of kit

Over Christmas I was lucky enough to receive the Humax Foxsat HDR Freesat Digital HDTV Recorder, having had chance to play with it over the last few weeks I thought I was high time it got a review.
All in all, if you’re in the market for a new DVR I think the Humax Foxsat HDR Freesat Digital HDTV Recorder is well worth a look, especially if you have a dodgy terrestrial signal and already have a satellite dish fitted. If you've got any questions...

HD Freesat PVRs
But what if you would like to record as well as view programmes? Sure, you can use an existing VCR or DVD recorder - but that's of little use as far as HDTV is concerned. A far better option is the hard-drive based PVR (personal video recorder), which...

With eye-blisteringly crisp pictures, a whopping 300GB hard drive, a simple menu and some prime green credentials, the Humax Foxsat-HDR is one foxy HD set-top box.
Decent EPG and menu system. Excellent picture quality.
Limited High-Definition content.

The Humax Foxsat-HDR is a High Definition (1080i) Freesat set-top box with 320GB hard drive, twin tuners and HDMI, Scart or component output. Standard definition shows can be up-scaled or backed up to USB drive, and the optical audio out can handle...
If there weren’t a ban on hunting with dogs, Murdoch himself would be dressed up like a toff and stalk this crafty fox. It’s cheaper and greener than the Sky HD service, with a huge hard drive, great connections and brilliant audiovisuals. Humax...

The ability to record free-to-air HD programmes is great, but the combined cost of the recorder and satellite will deter many potential customers.
If you want to experience â'¬ and record - HD television without committing yourself to a monthly subscription then the Foxsat-HDR is probably worth the high initial outlay. It only took a few minutes of Wallace and Gromit in HD to make up our minds...

Humax builds on its reputation for Freeview PVRs with an elegant Freesat HD recorder
Versatile; BBC and ITV in HD; excellent media hub functionality
With its fine pedigree in Freeview PVRs and Freesat receivers, Humax is expected to deliver a strong product. The specification includes a 320GB hard disk, which can store up to 200 hours of standard TV recordings, or 80 hours of HDTV. HD viewing...
