The Konica Minolta DiMage Scan Dual IV manages excellent scan quality at decent speed.
The combination of image quality, speed, and price makes the Konica-Minolta DiMage Scan Dual IV an attractive package for anyone who needs to scan transparencies.

The cheapest dedicated 35mm film and slide scanner on the market. The scanner is easy to use, software is intuitive and controls are comprehensive with curves, colour correction, sharpening and others. It doesn't have Digital ICE and that makes...
1) Cheapest film scanner around! 2) Easy to use 3) Sharp scans 4) Bundled with PS Elements 5) Fast file transfer with USB2.0 6) Good film strip holders 7) Intuitive software
1) Colour casts (not too big a problem, only time consuming) 2) Useless software dust removal function 3) Pixel polish isn't very good

Optically and colour fidelity wise this is a very good scanner for the money. If you can get it to scan the results are really quite good. Even against the up-market Nikon Coolscan scanner I had before. The problem is, and it is a big problem, that it...
Good sharpness and dynamic range with controlled banding on well exposed material. Good software options. Good Price.
Non-existent Mac support even though it is listed on the brochure.

I had Epson 3170, which was not good for scanning 35mm film so I returned it to the store. Went to B&H and got this Minolta scanner. Very nice unit. Compact size, convinient to operate. Creates decent results for negatives, but sometimes I found it to...
Good results(if you are proficient in image editing software). Price.
Biggest problem - dust. Wear cotton gloves to avoid fingerprinting your film. Have some film cleaning supplies such as tissues, q-tips spray and blower brush. Noise. It is fairly noisy especially when you set multi-sampling on.

I bought this film scanner to convert some recent slides to digital format. This was primarily for inclusion into electronic slideshows on PC and DVD, and also to make A4 sized prints. Previous to purchasing the Dual Scan III, I had used an Epson...
Good price Good focus Good colour accuracy Compact Size Easy to use scanner software
Lack of dust/scratch removal (but this would obvoiusly increase price)

I've found this scanner to be a good value for making preview scans to put on CD-ROMs and submit to photo editors (then they let me know what transparencies to submit for drum scanning at their pre-press house), but haven't tried making any prints with...
Inexpensive and a great value for non-critical consumer work. Includes Photoshop Elements 2.0 Intuitive, easy-to-use software (even the advanced "DS 3 Utility" mode).
Lack of true dust and scratch removal capability limits this scanner to non-critical consumer use. First unit smelled like electronics were burning up, so I returned it. Second unit had autofocus inconsistencies, so I sent it in to Minolta for check...

The best thing about this scanner is the price. I don't know if there's another scanner out there for this price that performs as well. That being said, there are things I don't like about it. I wish it initialized quicker. It locks up if I try and use...
Very good color scans with slide film Inexpensive Lots of control via the software
May have USB 2.0 problems Color of negative scans will not match the prints you get from traditional sources Slow startup

I bought the scanner to process the bulk of images I would normally churn out of my old fashioned darkroom. I figured I'd keep it set up for high end printing and use the scanner for previewing images and generating work prints. I only work with B&W...
Excellent scans Good software Very easy to set up and use
Film holder - see above

In addition to what has been written till 20-08-2003 on this site, I will just write a specific review about colour accuracy. (reviewers before me; I want to thank you a lot for your extensive reviews). The scanner is not only extremely fast on a 2.0...
Extremely good colour accuracy. The very long list of strengths is listed in so many other reviews...I'll skip this :)
Film grain is being over exaggerated on slides and high iso B/W films. (However on Velvia, Provia it seems the scanner truly scans grainfree images at the 4x sampling.) No Digital ICE No professional software package included (Note: for the price you...

This scanner is extremely easy to set up and only takes momments to figure out. Initialy i was very pleased with my scans and thankfull that i opted for the Minolta over other brands. However as time went on I found there was no consistency to the...
Easy set up Great value for money, I feel Minolta offer a better value for money product across their photographic range than either Nikon or Canon. Good colour and dynamic range. Ive had no problems with build quality.
Images started sharp but have degraded over time. (light use only) Two horizontal lines have appeared on all my scans.
