No modem, router, or hub required ; Bluetooth LE 4.0 extends range to 150 feet ; Torch feature turns bulb on when you enter a room and off when you leave

No access away from home ; Not compatible with Wi-Fi-based connected-home systems ; Unreliable at scheduled tasks

ILumi Solutions’ second-generation Bluetooth bulbs’ reliance on Bluetooth LE means they don’t require a hub or a bridge, but the downside is that you can’t control them over the Internet.

The Bluetooth-connected Ilumi A19 Smartbulb has some interesting features, but they should be better implemented for the price.

Doesn't require a hub. Easy setup.

Pricey. Clunky app design. Poor music syncing. Torch mode is slow to respond.

Conclusions The Ilumi A19 is a decent smart bulb, but it doesn't do enough to separate itself from the competition. And its most unique features, like Music Sync and Torch mode, are underwhelming. If you're looking to give smart lighting a try, you're...
